Bookwire expands its location in Spain – Eric González Canova is “General Manager Spanish Markets”

Frankfurt a. M., 7 July 2020 – Bookwire GmbH takes account of the growing importance of the Spanish-language market in its corporate portfolio by bolstering the team at its Barcelona location, with Eric González Canova becoming the new General Manager Spanish Markets in the business.

González Canova (40) took up the position at the Barcelona location on 1 July 2020. In his new role, he is responsible for Bookwire’s business segments in all Spanish-speaking countries, in the eBooks, audiobooks, spoken word and Print-on-Demand (PoD) areas.

Margarita Guerrero now fills the newly created role of “Director Account Management Spanish Markets”. She had been responsible for looking after Spanish-speaking publishing clients at Bookwire in Barcelona for 6 years and, in the past year, led the team as Interim General Manager. The new members of staff bring the total number of employees at Bookwire Spain & Latin America to 8.

Jens Klingelhöfer, CEO of Bookwire GmbH: “we have been seeing a continuous positive development in the Spanish-speaking market for many years now, and we are constantly expanding our services across the whole of Bookwire’s range. To this end, we have now worked together with the team to restructure our Barcelona branch so that we can manage growth and optimum customer care equally well.”

Bookwire recorded growth of around 40% on the Spanish market in 2019, and an even bigger increase is expected for the current business year. Innovations for publishing clients are soon to be launched, especially in the booming audio business area, and the launch of a new PoD service is imminent too.

Eric González Canova’s most recent role was “Innovation and Business Transformation Lead” at Thomson Reuters’ Global Print Business Unit (since 2019). He worked for Thomson Reuters for about 10 years in total, during which time he progressed through numerous career stages from “Commercial Planning Manager” through “Global Product & Marketing Manager” of Thomson Reuters’ eBook platform to his most recent role.

“It goes without saying that I am excited about supporting Bookwire in the further development of its business areas in the Spanish-language markets. During the past decade, I have had the opportunity to be closely involved with digital business and with all of the associated transformations and “software as a service” solutions – knowledge that I can now contribute together with Bookwire’s experienced team and the aim of compelling growth”, says Eric González Canova, new General Manager Spanish Markets at Bookwire GmbH.
